Airport Mac

Installing Ubuntu on iBook G4 specially for edgy version make lot of challenge for me. I know lot of people has experience about this and event more deeply running it before. Thats way i tried and learn more deeply and focus on this. Mean while i have problem with Wireless on my iBook. The Airport can not detecting the hotspot or some access point. But don’t worried, thanks to google who always have a time to answer all my question. And now i can rock my airport and run it very well. This time i explain to you how i did that.

Ok, lets begin with some cigarette’s and coffee. Djarum super is my favorite cigar and Kapal Api is my fav coffee. Then i starting to hack inside. First time make sure that the ibook has been connected to Internet via Ethernet Cable. Ubuntu already knowing this such think. You make sure you put the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and make sure it running well.

Tried it to update your Ubuntu with apt-update and apt-upgrade then i following this step.

2. Enable the “Universe” repository from System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager. or from your with your fav editor such as pico /etc/apt/source.list

3. Download the following file, and copy it to your desktop If that link is dead, just google the file name (wl_apsta.org) and find a working download.

4. If you using desktop open your terminal console and wrote:

sudo apt-get install bcm43xx-fwcutter
cd Desktop
sudo bcm43xx-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware wl_apsta.o
sudo modprobe bcm43xx

5. Now set up your wireless in System >> Administration >> Networking set your Hotspot name, Your IP, DNS and etc.

6. Ok, time to rock your airport on ubuntu edgy. Just unplug your cable and tried it.
