Microsoft Compressed HTML Help files — (chmLib)

5 Years ago when i was studies in Bielefeld, IMW & Avinanta push me to using latex for creating book, that was the worst writing that i have. But i learn from it. Btw today i got lot of book from some friend with formatted on Microsoft Compressed HTML Help files (chm) and its was really sucks cause i must convert that document. Thanks to chmlib that give me some solution so i can read with lynx or other browser. Yes this was i have done to convert it.

First install your chmlib on your ubuntu. I check it in my Applenix its already installed.
root@applenux-desktop:/home/applenix/public_html/ebook/book2html# cd /
root@applenux-desktop:/# clear
root@applenux-desktop:/# sudo apt-get install libchm-bin
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
libchm-bin is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Then i start to convert it with :
root@applenux-desktop:/# ./extract_chmLib
usage: ./extract_chmLib chmfile outdir

After running the utility to extract the HTML files from your CHM file, the extracted files will appear in . There won’t be an “index.html” file, unfortunately. Soi must have to inspect the filenames and/or their contents to find the appropriate main page or Table of Contents.

I put on directory that could be read by apache2 so it easy to read via browser. Otherwise if you using desktop the easy one is using xchm, installed it and run it. Then i tried to build for doc. Yeah using htmldoc was the easy one to read it. Or if you have already have html… easy think to read it via lyx which interface of Latex. Great…
